Find Your Flow
Placements and Company Auditions
Every dancer's path looks a little different. Find Your Flow is designed to help dancers discover where they fit at The Converge Dance Academy—whether that means finding the class level that will best support their growth or auditioning for one of our performing companies.
Our goal isn't simply to place dancers in the highest level possible. It's to find the environment where they can be challenged, supported, and continue developing safely and confidently.
Who Needs Placement?
No Placement Required:
-Littles Combo Class
-Foundations Classes
-Level I Classes
-Open Classes
Placement Required:
-Level II Classes
-Level III Classes
-Other Level-based Classes as indicated
These classes are designed to welcome dancers without requiring a prior level assessment.
Pointe requires instructor approval rather than a traditional placement class.
Not sure where you belong? That's exactly what Find Your Flow is for!
Placements
Throughout the Season
While our primary Find Your Flow placement event is typically held in August, dancers do not have to wait until the next season to join Converge.
New dancers interested in placement-required classes may request a placement throughout the season. We'll work with you to find an available class that allows both the dancer and instructor to determine the best fit.
Company Auditions
Find Your Place on Stage
Our performing companies are designed for dancers who are ready to deepen their commitment to training, performance, teamwork, and artistic growth.

Company auditions give our directors the opportunity to see each dancer's technique, musicality, movement quality, performance ability, adaptability, and potential. Directors may also consider how dancers work alongside one another and where each dancer may be most successful within the company program.

Auditioning for a particular company does not guarantee placement in that company. Our goal is to find the company environment that best supports each dancer's current level and continued development.
The Converge Dance Academy currently offers four performing companies:
-
Origins — Beginning/Intermediate pre-teen and teen dancers
-
Legacy — Advanced teen/adult dancers
-
The Collective — Beginning/Intermediate adult dancers
-
Révérence Ballet Ensemble — Intermediate/Advanced ballet dancers

Company auditions are typically held each August.
A $20 non-refundable audition fee is required to participate in company auditions.
What to Expect
Find Your Flow is designed to feel like a class—not a high-pressure test.
Depending on the style, dancers may participate in:
-
Technique exercises
-
Center work
-
Across-the-floor progressions
-
Short combinations
-
Musicality and performance exercises
-
Company choreography

Instructors and company directors will observe dancers throughout the experience rather than basing placement on one individual skill.
Technique is important, but it isn't the only thing we see. Musicality, performance quality, coordination, adaptability, work ethic, confidence, potential, and how a dancer responds to instruction may all contribute to placement and company decisions.
Most importantly, dancers are encouraged to come ready to learn, move, and be themselves.

What Should I Wear?
Dancers should arrive in clothing that allows instructors to clearly see alignment and movement while still allowing them to dance comfortably.

Please bring any appropriate shoes needed for the styles you will be participating in, including ballet shoes, jazz shoes or half soles if normally worn, socks if wanted, and clean athletic shoes for hip-hop.
Hair should be secured away from the face.

For additional attire information, please review our Class Dress Codes page.
After Your Placement
Placement decisions are intended to guide dancers toward the class environment where they are most likely to grow successfully.

After your placement, you will receive information about the level or classes recommended for you and the next steps for enrollment.

Placement at Converge is not intended to define a dancer's worth or potential. Levels simply help us provide appropriate training and allow dancers to progress safely and confidently over time.
